A Tradition that Blossoms at Easter
The city of Barcelona is getting ready to welcome one of its most cherished traditions: the Fires de Rams. This event, which marks the beginning of Easter, will take place from March 25 to 29, 2026, and promises to attract both locals and tourists seeking a piece of Catalan culture.
The fairs will be located in two iconic spots in Eixample: plaza de la Sagrada Família and rambla de Catalunya. In these spaces, attendees will be able to explore an impressive variety of palms, palmones, and traditional decorations. The stalls will open their doors from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, offering a wide range of handcrafted products.

The giving and blessing of these palms commemorates Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, a moment fervently celebrated by believers. In Catalonia, it is customary for godparents to gift these palms to their godchildren as an integral part of the ritual.
As Palm Sunday progresses, attendees will also be able to participate in an emotional procession where these decorative items are blessed. Many Catalan households keep the tradition alive by hanging the blessed palms throughout the year as a protective symbol.
Not only will there be palms and palmones; there will also be rosaries made of sugar and colourful ribbons that complement this festivity. Each of these items is handmade by local artisans, adding significant value to every purchase.
