The city of Barcelona has been recognised with a total of 10 awards at the recent edition of the ADG Laus Awards, held on January 25th. This event, which has established itself as a benchmark in the field of graphic design and visual communication, awarded the local administration for its innovative communication strategy. Among the accolades, 4 Gold Laus stand out, highlighting the quality and creativity of the campaigns promoted by the council.
Recognition for the New Visual Identity
The awards received include three Gold Laus in key categories such as ‘Logo’, ‘Corporate Typography’, and ‘Redesign of Visual Identity for Large Companies’. These were awarded for the new visual identity designed to strengthen the bond between the City Council and the citizens. The renewal, carried out in October 2025, presents a fresher and more versatile image that places Barcelona at the centre of all official communications.
The fourth gold award was granted to the ‘Llums de Nadal’ campaign, which has been very well received by the people of Barcelona during the festivities. This campaign was developed by the agency SMLXL and has stood out not only for its aesthetics but also for its ability to connect emotionally with the residents.
In addition to the gold awards, Barcelona also received 3 Silver Laus and 3 Bronze Laus. The Silver awards were given to initiatives such as the static outdoor advertising campaign for Sant Jordi 2025 and the LlumBCN26 festival, while the Bronze awards recognised projects related to literary exhibitions and cultural events.
“These awards reflect the City Council's commitment to effective and innovative communication,” stated a council spokesperson after receiving the accolades.
The ceremony took place during the 56th edition of the event, where more than 1,300 projects were presented. The jury highlighted not only the technical quality but also the social and cultural impact that these works generate. This year, the Grand Laus was awarded to the production company CANADA for a collaborative advertisement with HeimatTBWA.
Throughout its history since 1964, the ADG Laus Awards have evolved to include a wide range of categories that reflect current trends in graphic design. In this edition, a total of 479 awards were presented, including special distinctions such as the ADG Laus d’Honor Award to Pilar Villuendas.
As Barcelona continues to strengthen its visual and communicative identity, these recognitions serve as a testament to the City Council's ongoing effort to adapt to new trends and citizens' needs. With a strategy focused on innovation and creativity, it is expected that these initiatives will continue to position Barcelona as a reference not only nationally but also internationally in visual communication.
