The Business Pressure for Girona's Economic Future
In a context where the local economy faces multiple challenges, the Chamber of Commerce of Girona has made a strong call to the authorities to meet the established deadlines for the construction of the long-awaited Health Campus. During a recent press conference, the president of the Chamber, Jaume Fàbrega, emphasized that the development of this infrastructure is crucial for the region's economic future.
Fàbrega highlighted that, in addition to the Health Campus, there are two other projects that are vital for economic growth: the high-speed rail connection to the airport and the hosting of the Ryder Cup in Caldes de Malavella. These projects not only promise to improve local infrastructure but also have the potential to attract significant investments and long-term tourism.
In his speech, Fàbrega presented the results of the Sectoral Barometer 25/26, where the main concerns of the business community are identified as factors such as inflation, geopolitical uncertainty, and supply chain difficulties. He also underscored the shortage of skilled personnel as a significant obstacle that must be urgently addressed.
Despite the firm tone of his message, Fàbrega also stressed the importance of constructive dialogue with the involved administrations. “We will demand that they meet their commitments,” he stated. The Chamber has committed to closely monitoring the progress of these projects and will not hesitate to apply pressure if necessary to avoid delays.
The president concluded his speech by reminding that “a society capable of developing a vaccine against Covid-19 cannot afford to wait indefinitely for its administrations.” This comment resonates as a clear call to all sectors involved: both business leaders and authorities must work together to ensure a prosperous future for Girona.
