A new business model for the future
In a global context where sustainability has become a priority, Grupo Griñó positions itself as a benchmark in the circular economy. This conglomerate, based in Lleida, has achieved a turnover of 303 million euros in 2025, representing an impressive increase of 50% compared to the previous year. This growth not only reflects its ability to adapt to market demands but also its commitment to the environment.
Throughout this financial year, the family-owned company has reported a net profit of 20 million euros, surpassing the 14.2 million earned in 2024. Joan Griñó, the current president and a member of the third generation in charge, highlights that these results are the fruit of a long-term strategy that combines both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
A clear demonstration of this strategy was the recent integration of Azor Ambiental, a Murcian company specialised in battery recycling that was facing financial difficulties. This acquisition not only expands the group's operational capabilities but also reinforces its commitment to sustainable and responsible practices.
By betting on innovation and modernisation, Grupo Griñó has allocated 33.2 million euros between 2024 and 2025 to update its facilities and develop new projects focused on renewable energies. The company currently operates 52 facilities, mainly located in Spain but also present in countries such as Colombia and Argentina.
One of the most notable projects is the plant located in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, where a cogeneration system using alternative fuels is being implemented. According to Joan Griñó, “industrial waste is transformed into fuel to power our factories,” thus preventing it from ending up in landfills and giving it a second useful life.
As 2026 progresses, Grupo Griñó has already committed over 7 million euros for new strategic investments. With more than 1,500 professionals, this conglomerate manages around 2 million tonnes of waste annually. Its innovative approach not only allows them to generate significant revenue but also to actively contribute to a more sustainable world.
