Urban transformation in Cornellà de Llobregat
The City Council of Cornellà de Llobregat has announced an ambitious project that will transform the urban infrastructure of the city. With a total investment of €3.2 million, approximately seventy sidewalks will be renewed and repaired, thus improving the quality of life for its residents.
The main objective of the initiative is to create streets that are more accessible, comfortable, and safe. This decision comes after a thorough analysis of the current state of the streets, where various areas were identified as needing immediate attention. The works are scheduled to take place over an estimated period of two years.
Priority areas include significant stretches such as Avenida Salvador Allende and parts of Calle Joan Fernández, where some interventions have already begun. The most common actions will include the renewal of deteriorated pavement, removal of architectural barriers, and improvements to the surrounding green spaces.
It will not be limited to sidewalks; this project is part of a broader package aimed at improving public space during the year 2026. Within this framework, the City Council will also allocate €720,000 to implement a new lighting plan and install awnings at certain strategic points to provide shade for pedestrians.
Through these initiatives, the City Council has emphasised its commitment to maintaining public space, indicating that more than a third of the municipal budget is allocated to this cause. The renovation seeks not only to beautify the city but also to encourage greater social interaction by making the streets more pleasant and safe for everyone.
