The chain will sell a three-layer softshell jacket for €15.99, in three colours and with limited units in its Catalan stores.
For €15.99, a three-layer jacket can solve the weekend warmth for many Catalans. This is reported by El Món, which presents it as an alternative to more expensive mountain brands.
The starting point is well-known: technical mountain clothing often exceeds €100, which deters those who just want to head to the Pirineo or Montseny for a specific day. Lidl's garment targets that audience, but also those who need warmth to walk through Barcelona in intermittent rain.
It is a softshell jacket with Bionic-Finish Eco treatment, which repels water and dirt. It incorporates Creora Elastane fibre, which gives it elasticity and prevents the garment from being tight against the body.
According to the published features, it has three layers and acts as a windbreaker without retaining so much heat as to cause sweating. It has a hood, a chin guard to prevent the zipper from rubbing against the skin, and pockets for a mobile phone or transport pass.
It is sold in three versions: black, turquoise, and a bicolour model in lilac and purple. The design is suitable for the city without looking like ski wear.
According to the published information, the central sizes of Lidl's technical collections, M and L, often sell out within the first hour of opening in cities like Barcelona, Girona, or Tarragona.
Compared to a jacket from a specialised brand, the savings are around €70. Those who want to get one will need to go to their store at opening time, as stock is limited.
