The neighbourhoods of Sant Martí are preparing a programme for November against male violence. The 22nd Women's Race will take place on Sunday, November 22, and the central event on December 3.
The 22nd Women's Race will be the first major event on the calendar. It will bring together thousands of runners on Sunday, November 22, in a 7.5-kilometre route starting from Sant Martí de Provençals and finishing in Ciutat Vella, passing through Clot, Camp de l'Arpa, Parc i Llacuna del Poblenou, and Vila Olímpica.
The event is open to participants aged 8 years and can be completed by running or walking. Registrations will remain open until November 19. The day will require traffic cuts and diversions in several parts of the city, so those driving in those areas on Sunday should take this into account.
On Wednesday, November 25 at 10 am, the feminist march organised each year by the Network of Senior Citizens' Spaces of Sant Martí will take place. The route is about 3 km and includes four stops where texts of reflection and advocacy will be read.
The starting point will be at Casal Ca l'Isidret (Josep Pla street, 174) and the finish will be at 25th November Square. The activity is free, but prior registration at the Senior Citizens' Spaces is required.
In addition to these two events, the district is preparing a central event for the commemoration that will be held on Thursday, December 3. The complete programme for the neighbourhoods has not yet been published and will be announced in the coming days.
The Barcelona City Council reminds that it launches a communication campaign and events in all districts each year on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, declared by the UN in 1999. This year's campaign is titled “Behind each one, we are all”.
The council points out that the city has municipal teams to address any situation of male violence, whether at home, in the street, or at work, whether the victim experiences it directly or if someone is a witness.
