A new voice for Mataró
In a move that promises to shake up the local political landscape, Aliança Catalana has presented Mireia Alomà Mihi as its candidate for the mayoralty of Mataró. The criminal lawyer, born in Vilassar de Mar in 1986, aims to lead a significant change in municipal management, focusing on the real needs of citizens.
Alomà has expressed her desire to be a strong alternative for residents demanding greater security and order. In her own words, she seeks to “defend the citizens of Mataró” and reclaim a town hall that is “useful and effective.” With over 16 years of experience in criminal law and a background as a teacher in local academies, her professional profile stands out among the candidates.
She grew up in the public educational environment of the city, attending Anxaneta school and Satorras high school. Her academic training culminated in a law degree from Universidad Pompeu Fabra, which has allowed her to develop a solid career as a lawyer. However, her connection to Mataró goes beyond the professional realm; it is an integral part of her personal identity.
Despite having previous ties with the youth wing of Esquerra Republicana during her youth, Alomà distanced herself from institutional political activism due to disillusionments with the independence process. Nonetheless, she found new political motivation by joining Aliança Catalana under the leadership of Sílvia Orriols, a party that dares to tackle pressing issues without fear of repercussions.
Mireia Alomà has identified several priority issues for her campaign: citizen security, civic responsibility, and administrative efficiency. She asserts that many residents of Mataró feel a growing sense of abandonment by the Town Hall in the face of increasing incivility and insecurity. For her, it is imperative that the local government moves past excuses and begins to offer concrete solutions.
As the municipal elections approach, Aliança Catalana hopes to consolidate its presence in Mataró as a viable option for those citizens tired of the status quo. With Mireia Alomà at the helm, the party aims not only to garner votes but also to restore trust among residents through policies focused on their real needs.
