The Bombers de la Generalitat have evacuated 20 homes on Covadonga Street after detecting cracks that compromise the building. The homes will not be habitable until renovations are made.

On the afternoon of this Wednesday, 4th of November, around 80 residents of Covadonga Street had to leave their flats in Badalona. According to metropoliabierta.elespanol.com, the evacuation occurred after cracks appeared in the property where they reside.

The Bombers de la Generalitat evacuated 20 homes after considering that these cracks posed a risk to the safety of the building. The service communicated this on their social media.

Rescue technicians arrived at the building after receiving the alert at around 12:28 PM. Municipal technicians and the Collapsed Structures Group (GREC) also worked in the area, and after the inspection, they described the damage with these words:

“considerable damage”

Due to the risk of a possible collapse, the firefighters accompanied families to collect their belongings and leave their homes. None of the residences will be habitable until renovations are carried out, so the residents cannot return for now.
