The joint operation of Mossos d'Esquadra and Guardia Urbana against Blocus concluded without disturbances, with 1,440 identified, 127 reports opened and three detained.
The operation that was deployed on Saturday 31st October by Mossos d'Esquadra and Guardia Urbana in Barcelona ended with 1,440 identified individuals and three detained, according to the balance released by the Mossos in a statement. No disturbances were recorded, although the agents opened 127 administrative reports for the seizure of "potentially dangerous" tools and substances.
The deployment aimed to prevent new incidents and looting like those experienced in the city the previous Saturday. The agents acted jointly in the centre, where the police presence was particularly visible throughout the day.
Of the three arrested, two are adults and had an active search and detention order. The third is a minor, detained for a crime of resistance and disobedience to authority.
The Mossos also arrested a 21-year-old in Cabrera d'Anoia identified as a presumed instigator and promoter of the events of 24th October in Barcelona. According to the Catalan police, he was the administrator of one of the communication groups used to promote and coordinate violent actions. The calls were disseminated via a poster on TikTok with a QR code that led to a WhatsApp channel.
The police maintain that the detainee actively participated in the group's organisation and was in Barcelona during the disturbances of the previous Saturday.
The mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, celebrated that the day passed normally and attributed the result to the preventive work, planning and coordination of both bodies. He also warned that the deployment will remain active:
"It will continue in the coming hours".
For the residents of the centre, the operation implies reinforced police presence and possible identity checks in the coming days. Those who wish to follow the evolution of the operation can consult the statements from the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Barcelona City Council.
