The Mossos are investigating the knife attack on a doctor from the CAP of Torelló in the early hours of Tuesday. The victim is out of danger and it is being investigated whether it was a robbery or a random attack.
A doctor from the CAP of Torelló was attacked with a knife in the early hours of this Tuesday, around midnight, in the vicinity of Sant Fortià square. The victim was able to call 112 to alert authorities about the attack, according to police sources.
The Emergency Medical System (SEM) transported the doctor to Vic hospital. Sources familiar with the case confirm that there are no fears for his life and that he is out of danger.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have opened proceedings to clarify the motive behind the attack. For now, the investigation is working with two hypotheses: a violent robbery or a random attack.
“This violence has no place in our society”
The Minister of Interior, Nuria Parlon, condemned the events in a social media post and assured that she will not tolerate or normalise this type of violence. Parlon expressed her support for the victim.
The Town Hall of Torelló has also condemned what happened in a statement. The council has expressed its support for the victim and their family and has shown its “absolute rejection” of any form of violence.
The council has reaffirmed its commitment to safety, respect, and coexistence in the municipality and has assured that it is in contact with police forces and health authorities, who are closely monitoring the investigation.
The attack has generated concern among the residents of Torelló, a town in the Osona region where primary care centres are an essential service for the population. The CAP of Torelló serves residents of the municipality and nearby towns.
The Mossos continue their investigations to identify the perpetrator of the attack and determine the exact circumstances of the incident. No arrests have been reported at this time.
