The thieves, on a stolen motorcycle, intimidated five young people with a telescopic baton and a weapon, apparently simulated, during the Sarrià festival.
The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating a series of violent robberies committed against teenagers in affluent areas of Barcelona and Sant Cugat del Vallès over the past weekend. The perpetrators were riding a motorcycle reported as stolen and allegedly used a firearm, which appears to have been simulated, to intimidate the victims and take their phones and even their clothing.
The most serious incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday in the Sant Gervasi and la Bonanova neighbourhood, at the intersection of Bertrand i Serra and Torras i Pujalt streets. The local festival of Sarrià was taking place in the area. Five teenagers reported being assaulted by two hooded individuals who first threatened them with a telescopic baton and then with a firearm.
According to police sources, the assailants took personal items such as mobile phones, clothing, and footwear. One of the young people was assaulted when he refused to hand over his belongings. The thieves then fled.
The Mossos are investigating the events and have not yet arrested anyone. They suspect that this assault may be related to other violent robberies recorded within a few hours between Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
At around 22:00 on Saturday, two men on a motorcycle attempted to steal the belongings of a person on Escoles Pies street, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district, but fled without taking anything. Shortly after, around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, another incident occurred in Sant Cugat del Vallès, where the motorcyclists did manage to steal a mobile phone.
The investigation is in the hands of the Mossos from the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi police station and remains open to clarify the circumstances of the assaults and identify the alleged perpetrators.
