Barcelona City Council condemns the murder of a 38-year-old woman in her home in Nou Barris. A man surrendered and was arrested in Madrid, and the Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the events.
The body of a 38-year-old woman was found on Wednesday morning inside an apartment in Nou Barris. The Mossos d'Esquadra and the Bombers de Barcelona arrived after a neighbour reported that a woman was not responding inside the home.
At noon, a man surrendered and the Municipal Police of Madrid arrested him in the capital as the alleged perpetrator of the death. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos d'Esquadra has opened an investigation to clarify what happened.
The CUESB teams were dispatched to the home to provide psychological support to those close to the victim. The Barcelona City Council has activated the mourning protocol established with other institutions and entities.
“We will continue to work, along with other institutions in our country, to make all necessary efforts to advance guarantees regarding the basic right of women to live without any manifestation of these violences.”
The council has called for a minute of silence this Thursday at 1:00 PM in plaza de Sant Jaume and at the entrances of municipal buildings, in condemnation of this crime.
For the residents of Barcelona, the council reminds that women and their children who suffer violence can go to the Attention, Recovery and Shelter Service (SARA). They also have access to the Victim Attention Service (SAV) of the Barcelona Urban Guard.
