The Mossos carry out the eviction in the Cerdanyola neighbourhood of an investment fund's property that refused to negotiate. The family had been renting for 11 years.

A family of seven has been evicted this Tuesday in Mataró following the execution of a court order by agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra. Among those affected is a man with an 87% disability, his sister, and three of her children, one of whom is a minor and another with autism.

The property, located in the Cerdanyola neighbourhood, belongs to an investment fund that, according to the Sindicato de Vivienda de Mataró, has refused to negotiate the tenants' continued stay. The family had been renting the property for 11 years.

The police operation deployed several vans from 06:30 hours at the building's entrance to ensure the eviction, despite a gathering of neighbours and activists who mobilised to try to stop it.

The union denounces that the fund refused to negotiate the tenants' continued stay, who had been renting the property for 11 years.

On the same Tuesday, a second eviction was scheduled for 10:00 hours on Colombia street, in the Rocafonda neighbourhood. According to the Sindicato de Vivienda de Mataró, this procedure affects another vulnerable family with two minors in their care who do not have adequate housing alternatives from Social Services.

These two cases add to the pressure on housing in the Maresme region, where evictions of vulnerable tenants at the hands of investment funds have become a recurring problem. The Sindicato de Vivienda de Mataró demands that these evictions be halted and that the administration provide housing solutions before executing them.
