Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested two 43-year-old men in Barcelona with international arrest warrants. One used false documentation and the other is wanted for a homicide committed in 2016.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested two men aged 43 in Barcelona who were wanted by the justice systems of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. One had a European Arrest Warrant for document forgery, and the other an International Arrest Warrant for homicide.

The first arrest took place on 16 October. Officers from the Barcelona Urban Guard arrested a man as a suspected perpetrator of minor threats and damage. When taken to the Mossos' facilities, they found that the document he had used to identify himself was false.

According to the police statement, the request from Croatia relates to events from 2018. Croatian authorities claim that the arrested individual used forged documentation and an assumed identity to fraudulently obtain a personal identification number, a crime that can be punished with up to ten years in prison. He was placed at the disposal of the Central Investigating Court Number 2 in Madrid on 19 October.

The second case began on 21 October, when Citizen Security agents identified another man in Barcelona. Upon verifying his details, they confirmed that he had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Bosnia and Herzegovina. The request is related to a homicide investigated in that country in 2016.

According to Bosnian authorities, the man is allegedly involved in the violent death of an individual, in an investigation linked to a criminal organisation dedicated to kidnappings and extortions. During the intervention, officers also arrested him as a suspected perpetrator of a public document forgery. He was placed at the disposal of the Barcelona duty investigating court on 22 October.
