A concerning incident in the Casc Antic
This Monday, the Sant Adrià Nord district, in the Casc Antic of Sant Adrià de Besòs, was the scene of an alarming incident that led to the evacuation of three homes. The situation was triggered when part of a building's ceiling collapsed, forcing municipal technical services and emergency teams to act quickly to ensure the safety of residents.
Mayor Filo Cañete commented on the event, assuring that Social Services are already working to meet the basic needs of those affected. Meanwhile, technicians are assessing the condition of the property and taking necessary measures to prevent future incidents. According to initial reports, the Fire Brigade has confirmed that other flats were not affected by the collapse.
An affected neighbour shared her experience on social media, describing the severity of the incident. She recounted how the room where her 92-year-old mother and her sick sister reside was devastated. “Thank goodness she wasn’t in bed,” she expressed with distress, noting that both could have suffered serious consequences had they been present during the collapse.
The neighbour also mentioned that there had been worrying signs days before the incident; according to her testimony, the floor of the upper flat showed unusual movements. Despite these warnings, no adequate preventive measures were taken. She is now demanding a detailed technical report on the building's safety.
As the technical assessment of the affected property progresses, the City Council has reiterated its commitment to the safety of all residents. Measures are being implemented to shore up the damaged area and avoid any additional risks while working on long-term solutions.
