A scandal shaking Rodalies
The climate of uncertainty has taken hold of the Rodalies train network, following alarming revelations about the conduct of some train drivers. Junts MP, Isidre Gavín, has taken the initiative and presented a series of questions to the central Government, seeking to clarify accusations pointing to the improper use of medical certificates by around thirty workers.
According to information that has come to light, these train drivers allegedly manipulated real medical documents to be absent from work and obtain paid leave. This scandal not only affects those involved but also calls into question the internal management of Renfe. The Rodalies management detected these irregularities in August 2025 and decided to escalate the matter to higher authorities within the company.
In light of this situation, Junts has not remained silent. They have requested detailed information from the Government on several critical aspects: the total number of certificates processed during 2025, as well as data on the current staff composition and new hires. Furthermore, they demand to know how many fraudulent cases have been detected so far and what measures are being taken to prevent future incidents.
Not only are medical certificates a cause for concern for Junts. The party has also brought to Congress their worries about the recent suspension of the contract related to the quadrupling of tracks on the R2 South line between Castelldefels and El Prat. This decision was published in the BOE on March 25 and could have significant repercussions for service users.
Gavín has requested explanations regarding the technical reasons behind this suspension, as well as a clear assessment of potential cost overruns or compensations that may arise due to this administrative setback. The lack of clarity in this process could result in considerable delays in the scheduled works, directly affecting thousands of daily users.
Not satisfied with the actions taken so far, Junts has also filed questions in the Senate directed at the central Government to obtain concrete answers regarding this withdrawal. They believe it is essential to understand how this key action is planned to be resumed to ensure the optimal functioning of the rail service.
