The project will redevelop four blocks from the 1960s and eliminate 35 car spaces and 31 motorcycle spaces. This will free up around 800 m² of public use space.

The reform of the inner courtyards located between Juan de Mena and Pare Mariana streets and the paseo de la Vall d'Hebron has already received initial approval from the Barcelona City Council. The area, in the Horta-Guinardó district, surrounds a set of four large blocks built in the late 1960s.

This action is part of the Proximity Spaces and Interiors Program, included in the municipal Climate Plan. Its aim is to transform the everyday spaces of the city with more green areas, more shade, renaturalization, and adaptation to climate change.

Among the planned measures, the City Council will renew the street lighting according to current energy criteria, change urban furniture, and create new resting areas. It will also modernize the children's play areas and improve the sewage network and the water collection system.

For residents, one of the most visible changes will be the removal of parking located in the inner area closest to the paseo. According to the council, 35 car spaces and 31 motorcycle spaces will disappear, freeing up around 800 m² of open space. Only loading and unloading and emergency vehicles will be allowed to circulate.

The project will also level the sloped paths, as the height difference between Juan de Mena street and the paseo is around 15 meters. Rest areas will be created to facilitate walking. The broken pavement will be replaced with a unified finish of ceramic, concrete, or sand, with four-strip cobblestones in the passage areas.
