The PP sets a minimum goal of finishing second in Catalonia in the general elections on November 29. Miguel Tellado presented this in Barcelona with Xavier García Albiol as the main draw.

According to La Ciutat, the PP has set a goal of finishing, at least, as the second political force in Catalonia in the general elections on November 29. The message was delivered by the party's secretary general, Miguel Tellado, at a pre-campaign event held at the Biblioteca Sarrià - J. V. Foix in Barcelona, with Xavier García Albiol as one of the visible faces.

Tellado called for Catalan votes to strengthen Alberto Núñez Feijóo's chances of reaching the Moncloa. He recalled that the PP leader failed to form a government after the previous elections and urged for more support in the community:

“four more seats here in Catalonia”

The secretary general framed the 29-N as the beginning of a new political stage, with deep reforms, institutional repair, and national reconstruction. He also took the opportunity to criticise the management of the Spanish government.

A significant part of his speech focused on Albiol, the mayor of Badalona and the PP candidate for Congress in Barcelona. Tellado defended his municipal policies on security and occupations as a reference to be scaled up nationally, and proposed a state law against occupations and more actions against repeat offenders.

Tellado also attacked the ERC candidate Gabriel Rufián, accusing him of having had excessive influence in recent years. He called for turning down the volume on Rufián and giving more weight to profiles like Albiol's. Additionally, he criticised the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, for maintaining his support for Pedro Sánchez before the general elections.

Albiol also referred to the decision of the Barcelona City Council not to install the planned Christmas lights in plaza Catalunya, following the problems caused by the encampment for the right to housing. He described it as:

“a true shame”

The popular candidate accused the government of Jaume Collboni of allowing a “radical minority” to condition the use of the square. According to the council, the encampment prevented timely completion of the necessary preliminary work for the original installation.

Albiol also condemned the general strike called for November 11, labelling it as “political” and aimed, according to him, at benefiting the PSOE and leftist parties. The union call demands measures in response to the housing crisis, rising living costs, and job insecurity.

Albiol asserted that the PP aims to deliver a positive surprise in Catalonia and agreed with Tellado on setting a minimum goal of finishing in second place in the territory on November 29.
