The first incident occurred at 12:22 AM, when a fire broke out in a transformer at a substation near the Hospital de Bellvitge, affecting around 68,000 customers in Cornellà de Llobregat and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The fire was extinguished within about 40 minutes, allowing Endesa technicians to restore power swiftly. Just ten minutes later, another issue arose at the Collblanc substation in L’Hospitalet, where a malfunction caused one of its transformers to disconnect. This second incident impacted an additional 19,000 customers.
The quick response from Endesa meant that power was restored within approximately 20 minutes for those affected by the malfunction. Despite the significant number of people impacted by these outages, many were asleep during the incidents, which minimized disruption for local businesses.
