A fire ravages the Montesa Honda headquarters in Barcelona
This Friday, a large-scale fire has consumed the Montesa Honda headquarters, located in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Barcelona. The fire broke out shortly before 3:00 PM and quickly spread through the company's logistics centre, forcing the evacuation of 150 workers with no reported injuries.
The rapid response of the fire brigade
The Bombers de la Generalitat initially deployed fourteen units to control the fire, a number that increased to 28 due to the magnitude of the disaster. Despite efforts to extinguish the flames from the outside, it was confirmed that the affected warehouse collapsed, further complicating the firefighting efforts.
In addition to the Montesa Honda employees, workers from nearby warehouses were also evacuated. Authorities have urged residents and businesses in the Torre del Rector industrial estate to remain confined in their facilities as a precaution against the dense smoke generated by the fire.
Origin of the fire under investigation
According to internal sources, the incident may have been caused during maintenance work on the solar panels installed on the roof. This aspect is being investigated by the relevant services while firefighters continue to work to prevent the flames from spreading to other nearby industrial warehouses.
The impact of the fire is considerable; it has not only completely destroyed the factory where trial bikes and accessories for Honda Racing models are produced, but it has also put the municipality on alert by activating its Unique Civil Protection Document (DUPROCIM). This measure aims to coordinate all necessary plans for similar emergencies.

Local authorities have recommended that residents close doors and windows and avoid outdoor activities until further notice. The situation is still being monitored as teams work tirelessly to extinguish what remains of the fire.
