A new chapter for Can Casacuberta
The city of Badalona, located in Barcelonès Nord, is preparing for a much-anticipated event: the reopening of the central Can Casacuberta library. This cultural space, which has been intermittently closed since 2019 due to maintenance issues and renovations, will reopen to the public next Monday afternoon.
For six years, citizens have witnessed their library undergoing a series of renovations, primarily affected by issues related to the roof and air conditioning. The situation had generated growing frustration among regular users of the centre, who longed for the return of this important community resource.
With the reopening scheduled to coincide with the Easter festivities, the hours have also been adapted. The library will be available to visitors from Monday to Thursday from 15:30 to 20:30 hours. Starting from April 7, morning hours will be extended, beginning at 9:30 hours, and on Saturdays it will open between 9:30 and 13:30 hours.
The reactivation of Can Casacuberta also implies a significant change in the operation of the other local libraries. The Canyadó and Casagemes – Joan Argenté library will resume its usual hours as a district library, allowing for better distribution of library services in Badalona.
Not only is Can Casacuberta in the spotlight; the City Council has announced that L’Espai Betúlia, Centre of Word and Letters, located at Enric Borràs 43, will remain closed during Easter but will reopen on Tuesday, April 7, after completing its own renovations. This represents a continuous effort by the council to revitalise cultural spaces in Badalona.
As the reopening date approaches, both residents and book lovers express their excitement to once again enjoy the welcoming atmosphere that Can Casacuberta offers. This space is not only a place to access books and educational resources; it is a hub where culture is promoted and community ties are strengthened.
