A new way to rediscover Ripoll

The Town Hall of Ripoll has launched an innovative initiative called Ripoll con Ulls Tafaners, designed for the inhabitants of the municipality to explore and rediscover the small cultural treasures hidden in their streets. This activity, officially presented last Friday, aims to foster a connection between residents and their local heritage.

Through a tour of different neighbourhoods, participants will have the opportunity to identify 36 unique elements, ranging from a painting of Sant Jordi to intriguing sculptures such as an angel and a child embracing a goose. The idea arose from the daily work of Jordi Reolid, a civic agent of the Town Hall, who has been observing these details during his walks around the locality.

Reolid has highlighted that although 36 elements have been selected for this first edition, many more could have been included: “We could have chosen 200 or 300,” he stated. This indicates that the project has the potential to grow and evolve over time, allowing participants to discover new corners and curiosities in future editions.

Those interested in participating must collect a leaflet available at the entrance of the Etnographic Museum, where photographs of the elements to be located are also displayed. Upon completing the tour and correctly identifying the locations, they will be eligible for special prizes. The mayor of Ripoll, Sílvia Orriols, has expressed her enthusiasm for this activity, noting that it is an excellent opportunity for residents to become familiar with aspects of local heritage that often go unnoticed due to the fast pace of daily life.

Although the activity is primarily aimed at residents, it is also open to visitors willing to take the time to explore the municipality. Orriols emphasizes the importance of knowing these architectural and artistic details: “With the noise and hustle of daily life, we often overlook details of façades or fountains,” she commented. This cultural treasure hunt will not only enrich the personal experience of each participant but also strengthen the sense of community among the inhabitants of Ripoll.
