The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 21-year-old in Cabrera d'Anoia, whom they attribute with encouraging looting in Barcelona on October 24.
The Catalan police maintain that the young man was the administrator of one of the groups created to coordinate participants in the looting from the Blocus channel. According to the Mossos d'Esquadra, his role was that of instigator and facilitator of communications, and he was in Barcelona during the events of October 24.
The investigation has revealed how participants were recruited. Access to the group was promoted through a poster on TikTok that included a QR code linking directly to a WhatsApp channel.
The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has assured that there will be no impunity for those who participated in the acts of violence. In a message posted on X, he stated:
“We will continue to act firmly so that anyone who has participated in these acts of violence and looting is held accountable before justice.”
The Mossos are keeping the investigation open and do not rule out new arrests. This is the fourth arrest in Catalonia of individuals linked to Blocus, following those made in the previous days in Bellmunt (Lleida), Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, and Barcelona.
In Bellmunt, the police arrested a 17-year-old on Thursday who allegedly instigated the Blocus call in the Paeria of Lleida. On the same Thursday, in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the administrator of a channel inciting violence regarding the mobilization of October 24 was arrested. On Friday, in Barcelona, a 18-year-old linked to the organization of one of the platform's groups in the city was detained.
