The Mataró Fairground opens its doors
This Friday, May 22, the city of Mataró becomes the epicentre of family entertainment with the inauguration of its much-anticipated Fairground. This event, which will run until the 31st of the same month, will take place at the Nou Parc Central Fairgrounds, a space that has been transformed to provide a safer and more inclusive experience for all visitors.
With a total area of 9,000 square metres, the fair will feature 123 attractions, including classics like the witch train and the whip. However, what truly stands out this year is the focus on safety. The City Council has implemented a perimeter system with access control, making Mataró a pioneer in this type of management for fairs.
Among the most relevant innovations are five surveillance towers that will not only ensure safety but also serve as reference points to assist lost minors or those needing medical assistance. Additionally, there will be a coordinated device by the Local Police and aerial support through drones provided by the Mossos d'Esquadra.
The fair will open its doors from 4:30 PM on weekdays and will offer extended hours during weekends. On Fridays and Saturdays, it will close at 2:00 AM, while on other days it will close at 11:00 PM. A special day will be Wednesday the 27th, when discounts on tickets will be applied between 4:30 PM and midnight.
Mataró has also considered those with special needs. On Tuesday the 26th, some attractions will be available for free for children and young people with functional diversity. Additionally, on Saturdays the 23rd and 30th, there will be moments without sound or visual stimuli to facilitate the experience for individuals with sensory hypersensitivity.
As the fair progresses, certain sections near the venue are expected to be closed to traffic during the busiest days. This will allow for safer flow for both pedestrians and vehicles exiting the nearby parking.
The organisation is under the supervision of the City Promotion and Commerce Service of the City Council along with the Guild of Fair Industrialists, ensuring effective collaboration between local entities.
