An unauthorized rave in El Pla de Santa Maria was dismantled by police, leading to several arrests for drug and alcohol offenses. The event attracted attendees from across Europe.
On Sunday evening, the Mossos d’Esquadra successfully dismantled an illegal rave party held in a rural estate in El Pla de Santa Maria, Tarragona. The operation was initiated after local municipal surveillance reported the unauthorized gathering, which had drawn approximately 70 vehicles and caravans to the area.
The event took place on a secluded property surrounded by fields and vineyards, where authorities discovered numerous campers from various parts of Spain as well as international attendees from France, Italy, and Germany. A makeshift camping area with tents was set up under a small pine grove adjacent to an old farmhouse where loud music could be heard.
Upon receiving the alert around 5:30 PM on Saturday, police quickly mobilized to control access to the site. They blocked off the two main roads leading to the estate to prevent additional guests from arriving. As word spread about the police presence, many potential partygoers attempted to reach the location on foot from a nearby urbanization located about one kilometer away.
The operation concluded successfully by 7:00 PM on Sunday when all activities were halted. Authorities reported that three formal notices were issued for confiscated materials along with four envelopes containing a total of 1,295 euros. This financial seizure indicates potential funding for future illegal events.
In addition to these actions, law enforcement cited three individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol—two facing criminal charges while one received an administrative citation. Furthermore, four others tested positive for drugs during roadside checks and were similarly penalized administratively.
This incident highlights ongoing challenges faced by local authorities in managing unauthorized gatherings that often pose safety risks due to substance abuse and lack of regulation. Similar events have been reported across Spain over recent years; however, this particular raid underscores heightened vigilance among law enforcement following increased public concern regarding such parties.
The Mossos d’Esquadra’s proactive approach aims not only at curbing illegal festivities but also at ensuring community safety amid rising incidents related to drug use at these gatherings. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or large gatherings that may violate local laws.
If you suspect any unauthorized events occurring in your area or wish to report similar incidents in El Pla de Santa Maria or surrounding regions, contact your local police department immediately for assistance.
