The vibrant city of Barcelona is set to host the 25th edition of Autoart World, an event that merges luxury automobiles with live art and gastronomy. Scheduled for September 25-27, the festival will transform Moll Drassanes into a hub of creativity, coinciding with the city’s renowned La Mercè festivities. This unique cultural initiative aims to attract new audiences to contemporary art through immersive experiences that turn iconic vehicles into living masterpieces.
Event details and artistic vision
Organized by Charly Meier, an international entrepreneur and producer, Autoart World promises a rich program featuring national and international artists such as TVBoy, Plexxo, Liz Macias, and Majo Fernández. The event will also include premium car brands, collectors, business leaders, and motor enthusiasts in a space designed for innovative projects, artistic interventions, exhibitions, music performances, and networking opportunities.
During the official presentation held at the Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona, Meier emphasized the significance of hosting this event in Barcelona. He described the city as a “cradle of art” and creativity while highlighting its role as “the gateway to Europe.” The first day will feature an exclusive six-hour private event themed ‘Gold and White,’ where guests are encouraged to dress in these colors to become part of the artistic canvas. The following two days will open up to the public.
“Our goal is to bring contemporary art closer to new audiences,” said Meier during the launch.
The festival’s opening day will also showcase live artistic performances. Notably, Joan Bueno—Barcelona’s beloved street artist at age 93—will participate alongside Marcel Aragonès. Aragonès plans a tribute performance inspired by Miró and Gaudí on a Porsche vehicle that he will transform into an artwork before attendees’ eyes.
This year’s Autoart World not only highlights luxury cars but also celebrates Barcelona’s rich cultural heritage during one of its most festive times. With La Mercè drawing locals and tourists alike for various celebrations across the city, Autoart World aims to enhance this atmosphere with its unique blend of automotive excellence and artistic expression.
The integration of gastronomy further enriches this experience; culinary offerings from local chefs will complement the visual arts displayed throughout the venue. As visitors explore this multifaceted event over three days filled with activities ranging from exhibitions to live performances, they can expect surprises at every corner.
Autoart World stands out as more than just an exhibition; it represents a movement towards redefining how we perceive both art and automobiles within our society today. By fostering connections between creators from diverse backgrounds while engaging with broader audiences through accessible formats like public events after initial exclusivity on day one—the initiative seeks not only appreciation but also dialogue around contemporary themes in both fields. This year’s edition marks a significant milestone, reflecting ongoing efforts within Barcelona’s cultural landscape aimed at promoting innovation while honoring tradition—a testament indeed that creativity knows no bounds when brought together under such auspicious circumstances.
