The Peralada Festival wrapped up its milestone 40th edition, achieving a remarkable 96.4% occupancy rate. With eleven sold-out performances, the festival sets the stage for future artistic endeavors.

The Peralada Festival has successfully concluded its 40th edition, boasting an impressive 96.4% occupancy rate across its events. This year’s festival featured eleven performances that sold out, highlighting the event’s growing popularity and significance in the cultural landscape.

Under the direction of renowned conductor Jordi Savall, who closed this year’s festivities alongside his all-female orchestra and soprano Núria Rial, the festival showcased a program dedicated to Italian Baroque music. The closing concert is set to be followed by additional performances, including one at Santes Creus on Tuesday.

The festival has not only solidified its reputation for artistic innovation but also established itself as a vital platform for new works and productions that can circulate both nationally and internationally. This year’s event was particularly notable for its extensive media coverage, with recordings made by RTVE of productions such as Diario di una madre, directed by Alberto García Demestres and Cristina Pavarotti, alongside other significant performances.

This year’s success is attributed to a commitment from the third generation of the festival’s founding family, which ensures continuity and opens new avenues for future programming. Artistic director Oriol Aguilà described the festival as a “laboratory space” where innovative ideas can flourish. He expressed optimism about the project’s future: “The project has life ahead,” he stated during a visit from representatives of Croatia’s National Theatre in Zagreb.

The upcoming Easter season in 2027 promises exciting developments, with composer Raquel García Tomás set to create new work titled Lecciones de tinieblas. Additionally, conductor Lina Tur will lead an ensemble performance of Bach’s Passion according to St. John, further enriching the festival’s artistic offerings.

This commitment to fostering new talent and productions positions Peralada as a key player in Europe’s cultural scene. As it moves forward into this new chapter, audiences can look forward to more groundbreaking performances that continue to push artistic boundaries.

The next opportunity to experience Peralada’s rich offerings will be during Easter 2027 when preparations are already underway for another exciting lineup of events.
