The concert will also include performances by Mayte Martín, Rosa Zaragoza, Borja Penalba, Meritxell Gené, Lucía Fumero, and Tarta Relena. With 70% of tickets already sold, anticipation is building for this one-night-only performance. The event is co-produced by the Grec Festival of Barcelona and TRESC (Abacus), alongside the Taller de Músics.

This year’s festival not only commemorates its rich history but also emphasizes its role as a gateway for global sounds into Catalonia. Over the past five decades, the Grec has fostered artistic exchanges that celebrate diverse traditions and languages.

The lineup for Cançons del Grec features artists who have deep connections with the festival. Their varied backgrounds promise to create a rich tapestry of musical dialogue that spans genres from author songs to flamenco and jazz.

A core band of ten musicians from Barcelona’s mestizo scene will accompany these artists. Additionally, a choir of twenty female voices will enhance the performance under the direction of Selma Bruna. This choir draws inspiration from ancient Greek choruses, serving as a bridge between performers and audience members while adding a collective dimension to the show.

The artistic direction is led by Cristina López Gómez, with executive oversight from Pol Segarra i Carré and Àlex Serra Bonet. Their vision aims to create an immersive experience that resonates with both local audiences and international visitors alike.

The Grec Festival has long been recognized for its ability to bring together various cultural expressions through music. As it celebrates this milestone anniversary, it continues to serve as an important platform for artistic innovation in Catalonia.

This special concert not only highlights individual talents but also reinforces the festival’s mission to connect different musical traditions across borders. By showcasing these diverse voices on one stage, Cançons del Grec promises to be a memorable tribute to fifty years of creativity and collaboration.

The event is expected to draw significant crowds eager to witness this historic celebration at one of Barcelona’s most cherished venues.

As preparations ramp up for this landmark occasion, attendees can look forward to an evening filled with powerful performances that reflect both local heritage and global influences in music.
