An unprecedented cultural display
The city of Mataró is preparing to experience one of its most emblematic festivities, Les Santes 2026, which promises to be an unforgettable event with over 100 scheduled acts. This year, the focus is on highlighting local talent, offering a varied range of activities from concerts to street performances, all aimed at fostering coexistence and minimising acoustic impact on the community.
Among the main musical attractions is the Mataró duo The Tyets, who will perform on July 27 at the Espacio Ferial of the New Central Park. This concert is part of their promotional tour for the new album Café para los más cafeteros. Alongside them, Svetlana, an emerging band from the Catalan queer electropop scene, will also bring a festive and reivindicative touch to the celebration.
The musical programme is not limited to these artists; it also includes other local formations such as the Orquesta de Mataró and GospelSons, thus ensuring a prominent space for talents from Maresme.
The Dissantes, one of the most anticipated events within Les Santes, will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a day full of family activities. The renowned singer Beth Rodergas will be the central figure of the event, performing a new version of the iconic song “JO sóc com tú”. Additionally, other artists like Hotel Cochambre and DJ Aksis will also be part of the lineup.
Despite the innovations in programming, traditions will remain fundamental. The Nit Boja on July 25 will gather thousands with iconic activities such as the Desvetllament Bellugós. Likewise, the castellers will make their presence felt again with groups like the Capgrossos de Mataró and the Minyons de Terrassa.
The City Council has implemented measures to make this festival more accessible. Reserved spaces for people with reduced mobility and quiet areas for those needing less sensory stimulation will be set up. Additionally, various activities will feature sign language interpretation.
The Llar Cabanellas will once again be a nerve centre for families during Les Santes. With varied shows including circus and dance, as well as artistic installations like “Les Veus de Gaza”, this space aims to provide inclusive entertainment for all.
There will be not only music and culture; the Les Santes Esportives will offer over 30 sports activities. The traditional swimming crossing in the port and the famous Cursa de Les Santes, which expects to gather up to 3,000 participants this year, will stand out.
