The Sant Roc neighbourhood in Badalona has been the scene of sad news that resonates strongly in society. This Friday, a 46-year-old homeless person from Pakistan was found dead in the street. The death, confirmed by the Mossos d'Esquadra as biological and without signs of violence, has raised alarms about the growing homelessness crisis in the city.
This unfortunate event marks the sixth death of homeless individuals in Badalona this year. Guanyem Badalona used their digital platforms to criticise what they consider a “policy of death” under the leadership of Mayor Xavier Garcia Albiol. “It is essential to stop this dehumanisation,” the party stated, highlighting that such situations are unacceptable in a modern society.
Meanwhile, Aïda Llauradó, a representative of the Comunes, expressed her condolences and lamented that the Popular Party has not promoted effective policies to eradicate homelessness and ensure a dignified home for all citizens. These statements reflect a growing discontent among opposition groups regarding how this humanitarian crisis is being managed.
