During a recent meeting held at the Saló de Cent, over 40 organizations, including utility companies and health institutions, gathered to discuss their roles in mitigating the effects of extreme weather.
“Today marks the countdown to reaching 50 degrees. We must be prepared,” stated Collboni during his address. This collaborative effort aims not only to identify critical infrastructures but also to ensure that all stakeholders understand their responsibilities in responding effectively.
The first phase will involve identifying key infrastructures vulnerable to extreme heat and establishing protocols for coordinated responses among various entities. A simulation exercise is scheduled for February 2027, focusing on decision-making processes during a heat crisis. Following this, a larger operational drill is planned for September 2027, which will simulate real-life conditions and test emergency protocols.

As Collboni pointed out, “Living at 40 degrees is not the same in every area.” The mayor emphasized that equitable access to resources must be prioritized as part of this initiative.
