The Badalona City Council has approved a new employment initiative aimed at hiring 102 unemployed individuals to enhance municipal services. This program is set to run from September 2026 to March 2027.

The Badalona City Council is taking significant steps to address unemployment in the region by launching a new employment plan that will create jobs for 102 residents currently out of work. Scheduled to commence on September 15, 2026, and conclude on March 31, 2027, this initiative aims not only to provide job opportunities but also to improve various public services and spaces throughout the city.

The roles available under this program are diverse, encompassing areas such as environmental management, marketing, audiovisual communication, cultural affairs, public relations, tourism, public administration, economics, and engineering. Additionally, the plan includes positions for administrative staff and civic agents who will support municipal operations and maintenance tasks.

Cristina Agüera, the first deputy mayor of Badalona, emphasized the local government’s commitment to enhancing job opportunities within the community. She stated that “initiatives like this employment plan are crucial for generating quality jobs in Badalona while simultaneously strengthening municipal services that directly impact citizens’ well-being and quality of life.”

This program specifically targets individuals over the age of 18 who are unemployed and preferably reside in Badalona. Selection criteria will consider factors such as socio-labor status, professional experience, educational background, and relevant skills related to the available positions.

The application process is set to take place from July 2 to July 9, 2026. Interested candidates can apply through an online form or by visiting the Municipal Employment Promotion Service (IMPO) offices in person. The list of accepted and rejected applicants will be published on July 13, with final selection results announced by July 31.

This employment initiative aligns with broader local policies aimed at promoting job creation and social cohesion within Badalona. It is supported by the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona as part of a metropolitan plan for social policy enhancement between 2024-2027. The total investment allocated for this project amounts to approximately €2.7 million.

The IMPO office provides further assistance for those seeking more information about this employment opportunity. Interested parties can reach them Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 2 PM, either by calling 93 460 52 00 or emailing plansocupacio@badalona.cat.
