David Escudé, the city’s Sports Councillor, emphasized the growing popularity of running in Barcelona. He stated, “Running is trending in Barcelona and our traditional Cursa de la Mercè Bimbo Global Race continues to grow to allow thousands of runners to be part of one of the highlights of our major festival.” This year’s expansion reflects the high demand for participation seen in recent editions.
The race offers various categories catering to different abilities and interests. Participants can choose from a 10 km race, designed for those looking for an urban challenge; an inclusive 2 km course, aimed at individuals with disabilities or reduced mobility; and a family race, which encourages families to enjoy sports together.
