The Guardia Civil has apprehended seven individuals linked to a series of copper thefts valued at nearly €1 million. The group is suspected of multiple break-ins across Catalonia, Aragón, and Castilla-La Mancha.
The Guardia Civil has made significant strides in combating organized crime with the arrest of seven suspects believed to be part of a criminal network responsible for eleven copper thefts across various regions in Spain. The operation, which spanned from Catalonia to Castilla-La Mancha, has uncovered a scheme that resulted in the loss of approximately 85 tons of copper, translating to damages and stolen materials worth around €922,000.
The arrests took place between early July and mid-July in Rivas-Vaciamadrid. Among those detained are six men and one woman aged between 19 and 41 years old. They are all residents of Cañada Real in Madrid and have been implicated not only in the thefts but also in operating as part of a larger criminal organization.
The investigation began earlier this year when local businesses reported a series of break-ins. Initial complaints were filed with the Guardia Civil by companies located in Baix Cinca, Huesca. Investigators quickly identified patterns: the thieves typically struck during weekends or holidays under the cover of darkness.
