This July, Barcelona Activa will offer 380 places in a new tech training initiative aimed at educators and children. The program focuses on enhancing digital skills through various activities.

This July, Barcelona Activa is set to enhance the digital landscape of education by launching its latest initiative, Estiu TIC, which offers 380 training spots for teachers and children. This program aims to equip participants with essential technological skills through a series of engaging activities that blend learning with fun.

Estiu TIC encompasses three main components: a technology camp for children aged 6 to 12, practical training in digital fabrication for educators in Nou Barris, and a catalog of certified ICT courses for teachers. With a total of 375 hours dedicated to training and recreational activities, this initiative is designed to foster digital competencies among young learners while also supporting teachers in integrating new technologies into their classrooms.

The technology camp, named EstàsON, will cater to two age groups: children aged 6-8 and those aged 9-12. Each group will participate in hands-on workshops that introduce them to robotics, computational thinking, artificial intelligence, digital health, sustainability, and climate change. These workshops aim not only to educate but also to inspire creativity and cooperative play among participants.

The camps will run from June 29 to July 3 for the younger group and from July 6 to July 10 for the older group at the Cibernàrium Nou Barris within the Pol de Talent Digital. As spaces are limited, interested parents must register online via the Cibernàrium website.

In addition to the children’s camp, Estiu TIC offers practical training focused on digital fabrication specifically designed for educators in Nou Barris. This course aims to familiarize teachers with 2D and 3D design, as well as operating real machinery like 3D printers, laser cutters, and digital embroidery machines. Spanning over 15 hours, this mixed-format course combines virtual classroom sessions with hands-on experiences at local fabrication centers.

This educational effort is part of a collaborative initiative involving Barcelona Activa alongside local resources such as the Ateneu de Fabricació de Ciutat Meridiana and the Centre de Recursos Pedagògics (CRP) of Nou Barris. By providing these resources directly within schools and institutes in the district, they aim to establish sustainable support for integrating digital fabrication into educational practices.

The third component includes 17 certified ICT courses available online for teachers that last approximately 20 hours. These courses cover both basic technological skills as well as advanced topics like artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. They are tailored not only to enhance teachers’ technical abilities but also facilitate their incorporation of innovative methodologies into everyday teaching.

The comprehensive catalog detailing all courses offered during Estiu TIC can be accessed on the Cibernàrium website where prospective participants can find information about content specifics, dates, and registration requirements.

This summer initiative underscores Barcelona Activa’s commitment to fostering digital talent within the city by promoting technological competencies from early education stages while simultaneously aiding educators in adopting innovative tools. It aligns with broader strategies aimed at creating more educational opportunities linked to the growing demands of a digital economy.

The Pol de Talent Digital at Parc Tecnològic de Nou Barris serves as a pivotal venue for these programs—connecting emerging vocations with relevant educational pathways while preparing local talent for future challenges ahead.
