The city of Abrera has introduced the T-Social card, allowing free urban bus travel for residents over 60 and those with disabilities. Applications are now open at local offices and online.
Abrera’s municipal government has officially launched the T-Social, a new initiative aimed at providing free urban bus services to specific groups within the community. This program is designed for individuals aged over 60 years and those who hold an official disability recognition of 33% or higher. The introduction of this card marks a significant step towards enhancing mobility for vulnerable populations in the area.
The T-Social card not only benefits seniors but also extends its support to individuals with disabilities who require assistance while traveling. These individuals will receive a special version of the card marked with «+ acompañante», allowing them to travel alongside a companion without incurring additional costs. This feature aims to facilitate easier access to transportation for those who may struggle alone.
Residents interested in obtaining the T-Social can submit their applications either in person at the Citizen Attention Office (OAC) or online through the municipality’s electronic portal. The OAC operates from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with extended hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until 7:00 PM. However, during August, afternoon hours are limited to Wednesdays only.
To complete their application, residents must provide valid identification along with documentation verifying their age or disability status. Once submitted, applicants will be notified by the municipality regarding when they can collect their cards from the OAC.
Starting in September, additional support will be available at the Casal de la Gent Gran located at number 8 on Rambla del Torrentet. This center will serve as an information point where residents can receive assistance with online applications and other inquiries related to public transport services.
The councilor for Social Action, Citizenship Rights, and Senior Citizens, Giulia Mirto, emphasized that this initiative aims to make public transport more accessible for those who rely on it most heavily. She noted that maintaining robust connections between neighborhoods and urban centers is crucial for community cohesion.
