The Generalitat has approved the environmental study for a new C-32 link in Premià de Mar, addressing community concerns about traffic impact. This decision aims to improve regional mobility and safety.

The Generalitat of Catalonia has officially approved the environmental impact study for a new connection on the C-32 highway between Premià de Mar and Premià de Dalt. This significant development comes after extensive consultations with local authorities and community groups, particularly the Covana C32 platform, which raised concerns regarding traffic effects on the Camí del Mig.

In a move that reflects responsiveness to public input, the Directorate General of Mobility Infrastructure from the Department of Territory has endorsed an alternative plan that prioritizes community needs. The chosen option will facilitate better connectivity while minimizing disruption to local residents.

As part of this initiative, two key requirements have been established. Firstly, a comprehensive traffic study will be conducted specifically for the Camí del Mig area and surrounding streets. This assessment aims to evaluate future mobility impacts on local road networks and address how incoming and outgoing traffic from the new link will affect these routes. The findings will inform potential adjustments in traffic flow or road configurations to alleviate any negative consequences.

Secondly, there is a proposal to create direct access from the C-32 exit ramp towards Mataró into the Buvisa industrial park via a segregated lane at a new roundabout. This addition is intended to streamline heavy vehicle movements and may lead to an expansion of industrial facilities if deemed feasible.

The approved document outlines several conditions applicable across all new links within this project scope. These include ensuring pedestrian and bicycle pathways remain uninterrupted, expanding bike lanes to 2.5 meters and sidewalks to 1.8 meters with appropriate safety features such as lighting and signage. Additionally, measures will be taken for ecological preservation by adapting drainage systems for small wildlife passageways and implementing soundproofing solutions based on detailed studies.

This approval marks a crucial step forward in enhancing infrastructure in Maresme, reminiscent of past projects aimed at improving regional transport links that have historically faced similar scrutiny over environmental impacts. For instance, previous expansions along major highways often required extensive negotiations with local communities before proceeding.

With this environmental study now finalized, attention turns toward drafting construction plans that incorporate all specified requirements before work can commence on this vital roadway enhancement project.

Residents interested in following developments related to this project can stay updated through municipal announcements or visit their local government website for more information about timelines and potential disruptions during construction phases.
