Nineteen public school playgrounds in Barcelona will be accessible to residents from June 25 to August 31, promoting community engagement and outdoor activities.
Starting today, 19 public school playgrounds across Barcelona will welcome residents during the summer months, providing a valuable resource for families and children. This initiative, launched by the City Council, aims to foster community interaction and offer safe spaces for recreation.
The program, known as Patis Escolars Oberts al Barri, allows these educational facilities to serve as public areas outside of school hours. The playgrounds will be open in various time slots throughout the day until August 31. Each location will have monitoring staff to ensure proper usage and safety.
This initiative is particularly significant as it not only provides recreational opportunities but also acts as a climate refuge during the hot summer months. With many urban areas lacking adequate green spaces, these playgrounds can serve as essential gathering spots for families seeking relief from the heat.

The list of participating schools includes locations across various districts such as Ciutat Vella, Sants-Montjuïc, Gràcia, Horta-Guinardó, Nou Barris, Sant Andreu, and Sant Martí. Each district has designated specific schools that will remain open on weekends throughout the summer months.
