Barcelona has unveiled its 2026 Restaurant Guide, highlighting the city’s rich culinary landscape and honoring the winners of the 2025 Barcelona Restaurant Awards. The guide serves as a vital resource for locals and visitors alike, emphasizing the unique offerings of over 55 distinguished establishments across various categories.

A celebration of local gastronomy

The launch event took place at La Esquinica, a celebrated bar-restaurant in Nou Barris recognized for its community integration. Nadia Quevedo, the city’s Commissioner for Economic Promotion, Commerce, Markets, and Fashion, attended the ceremony. She underscored the significance of restaurants in shaping Barcelona’s vibrant commercial model, which recently earned recognition as the European Capital of Local Commerce.

Quevedo stated that “the restaurant scene is present in every district and neighborhood of our city,” noting that there are more than 10,000 bars and restaurants throughout Barcelona. This extensive network not only contributes to the economy but also fosters social connections among residents.

The guide is a collaborative effort by the City Council’s Directorate of Commerce, Catering, and Food Services with support from Barcelona Tourism. It aims to celebrate local gastronomy while providing an accessible tool for those seeking to explore Barcelona’s diverse dining options.

This third edition follows previous guides published in 2024 and 2025. The earlier editions compiled information on all award-winning establishments from prior years. In contrast, this year’s guide focuses exclusively on winners and finalists from last year’s awards.

Nadia Quevedo emphasized that “the restaurant scene is present in every district and neighborhood of our city.”

The guide features notable winners across several categories from the sixth edition of the awards:

  • Gastronomic Quality: Bellafila in Ciutat Vella stands out for its commitment to high-quality cuisine that emphasizes seasonal ingredients.
  • Community Integration: La Esquinica has been a beloved gathering spot for over 50 years, symbolizing connection within its neighborhood.
  • Sustainability: Restaurant Xavier Pellicer has gained acclaim for its eco-friendly practices and dedication to local produce.
  • Service Excellence: Flash Flash has maintained a luxurious service standard for over 55 years, ensuring each guest feels at home.
  • Market Dining: El Racó del Mercat at Mercat dels Provençals is celebrated for its fresh seasonal offerings and community atmosphere.

Nadia Quevedo highlighted how restaurants contribute significantly to Barcelona’s vibrant commercial model.

The jury also awarded two honorary mentions: Los Caracoles in Ciutat Vella, known as one of Barcelona’s oldest restaurants with a history spanning 190 years; and Moncho Neira from Gràcia, recognized for his influential role in promoting Catalan cuisine internationally through his establishment El Botafumeiro.

The digital version of the guide is available online in Catalan, Spanish, and English at barcelona.cat/guiarestauracio, making it accessible to both locals and tourists eager to explore Barcelona’s culinary gems. This initiative not only highlights exceptional dining experiences but also reinforces Barcelona’s status as a gastronomic destination on the global stage.
