The arrests followed reports of thefts that took place the previous day, underscoring the persistent issue of crime at popular tourist destinations.

The suspects, a 35-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, were caught red-handed while officers conducted routine patrols in the area. Around 6:30 PM on Sunday, police received an alert about a theft at the beach. Upon arriving at the scene near the train station, they spotted two individuals matching witness descriptions.
Upon investigation, officers discovered that the pair was in possession of eight stolen mobile phones, several bank cards, and a backpack filled with personal items. This discovery came shortly after two women reported their belongings had been taken while they were swimming.
Pattern of Theft Along the Coast
The investigation revealed that this incident was not isolated. Additional inquiries indicated that three of the recovered mobile phones had previously been reported stolen. The thefts occurred across multiple locations along the coast, including Portbou and Colera, between June 13 and June 15.
Victims reported having their bags snatched while enjoying time in the water, illustrating how thieves are increasingly targeting vulnerable individuals during peak summer months when beaches are crowded.
