A wildfire that ignited in Gavà around 1:30 PM on Wednesday has prompted emergency measures affecting nearly 6,000 residents from the urbanization of Can Tries i Bruguers, Sant Climent del Llobregat, and nearby Viladecans. The fire’s rapid spread necessitated immediate action from local authorities, who issued confinement orders via the Es-Alert system to ensure public safety.
By 7:25 PM, Protecció Civil announced that the confinement had been lifted as firefighters successfully established a perimeter around the blaze. Gavà’s mayor, Gemma Badia, confirmed that the fire was now considered stabilized.
The wildfire also impacted Marcelí Moragas school, where children participating in summer activities were sheltered indoors to protect them from smoke inhalation. This precaution highlights the ongoing risks associated with wildfires during peak summer months.
Initial investigations suggest that pyrotechnic materials may have sparked the fire, which consumed approximately seven hectares of predominantly forested land. Rural agents are collaborating with Mossos d’Esquadra to identify those responsible for starting the blaze.
The firefighting response included ten units from Bombers de la Generalitat, three of which were aerial resources deployed to combat flames threatening residential areas and vehicles in Les Ferreres neighborhood. The fire generated a significant column of smoke visible from various nearby towns.

This incident occurred amid a severe heatwave affecting Catalonia, where 210 municipalities faced extreme wildfire danger and an additional 455 municipalities reported very high risk levels. In response, access to seven natural spaces has been restricted by regional authorities.
