Finca Nebot, a new restaurant in Poblenou, aims to be a comforting retreat for locals with traditional Catalan dishes. The establishment has quickly gained popularity since its opening.
Finca Nebot, the latest venture from restaurateur Leo Chechelnitskiy, has opened its doors in Poblenou, Barcelona, offering a unique dining experience that feels like home. This new establishment is designed to evoke nostalgia and comfort through its ambiance and menu, which focuses on traditional Catalan cuisine. Located at Pujades, 133, Finca Nebot seeks to create an oasis away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Chechelnitskiy, known for his successful restaurant group No Hay Mañana, has established several well-regarded venues over the past decade. With Finca Nebot, he describes this project as his most personal and mature endeavor yet. The restaurant’s name pays homage to the original family that operated a restaurant in the same space in the early 20th century.
The building itself is steeped in history; constructed in 1924, it features high ceilings and abundant natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a country residence. “I felt an incredible energy when I first entered,” Chechelnitskiy recalls with laughter about securing the location just before his wedding.
The interior design reflects both industrial and colonial influences typical of Poblenou while ensuring guests feel they are stepping into a family home rather than just another restaurant. The layout includes various cozy corners and an open kitchen that encourages relaxation and conversation among diners.
At Finca Nebot, the culinary focus is on reviving traditional recipes that have faded from many menus over time. “We wanted to reclaim Mediterranean Catalan cuisine,” Chechelnitskiy explains. Signature dishes include fricandó de vaca muda, canelón Rossini, and classic seafood zarzuela—each dish connecting patrons with flavors reminiscent of their childhoods.
The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive; within two months of opening, Finca Nebot has become a favorite among locals. “It’s heartwarming to see so many neighbors dining here,” Chechelnitskiy notes proudly.
A key element contributing to this success is the hiring of Rafa Mimoso as head of service. With extensive experience at renowned establishments like 7 Portes and Botafumeiro, Mimoso brings warmth and familiarity to the dining experience that aligns perfectly with Finca Nebot’s vision.
This connection with local patrons is evident not only in customer feedback but also in how quickly Finca Nebot has integrated into the neighborhood fabric. As it solidifies its place as a beloved local spot, Chechelnitskiy prepares for another significant life change—becoming a father soon.
The future looks bright for both Finca Nebot and its founder as they continue to craft stories rooted in tradition while embracing new beginnings.
